General

General questions

What types of labels do you print?

We print self-adhesive labels for wine, craft beer, spirits, food and beverage, honey, and cosmetic products. Our capabilities include digital and offset printing with premium finishes such as hot foiling, embossing, debossing, spot UV, matte lamination and gloss lamination.

What is the minimum order quantity?

We offer both digital and offset printing, so minimum orders can be as low as 100 labels for digital runs. Offset printing is more cost-effective for larger quantities, typically 1,000+ labels. Contact us for a quote based on your specific requirements.

How long does label printing take?

Standard turnaround is 7-10 working days from proof approval. Rush jobs can often be accommodated depending on our production schedule — please talk to us about your deadline.

Artwork

Artwork questions

What file format do I need for my artwork?

We prefer print-ready PDF files in CMYK colour mode at 300dpi with 2mm bleed. We also accept Adobe Illustrator (.ai) and Photoshop (.psd) files. Not sure if your artwork is ready? Use our free Artwork Preflight Checker at tools.thelabelroom.co.nz.

Can you help design my labels?

Yes. Our experienced prepress team can work with you to update or modify label artwork while keeping within your brand guidelines. We can also advise during initial design stages on the best colours, embellishments, and finishes for your product.

Materials

Materials questions

What label materials are available?

We offer a wide range of materials including uncoated textured papers, coated stocks, waterproof synthetics, metallic papers, clear and frosted films, freezer-grade materials, and eco-friendly options. Our team will recommend the best material for your product's environment and budget.

Do you offer waterproof labels?

Yes. We offer several waterproof options including synthetic films and waterproof coated stocks. These are essential for products exposed to moisture, refrigeration, or ice buckets — common for wine, beer, and food products.

Pricing

Pricing questions

How much do custom labels cost?

Label pricing depends on size, quantity, material, and finishes. As a general guide, simple digital labels start from around $0.15-0.30 per label for runs of 1,000+. Premium labels with foiling and embossing are higher. Use our free Label Cost Estimator at tools.thelabelroom.co.nz for an instant estimate, or contact us for a detailed quote.
